Risk management: Who's responsible anyway? Business leaders' perspectives on changes in risk management oversight and responsibility.

As the risk environment surrounding organisations has been changing over recent years, so too have the structures and roles with oversight and responsibility for risk management.

In presentations from a Chief Financial Officer, a Non-Executive Director, and a Chief Risk Officer, the breakfast briefing will look at how responsibilities for risk are now shifting in Australian organisations, and what this means for the interaction between the executive team, the board, the audit and risk committee and the risk management function.

The panellists will provide their perspectives in an interactive session that debates and discusses:

  • The chain of responsibility for risk management and oversight
  • The role and structure of audit and risk committees
  • What boards and committees need and expect from the risk management function
  • Whether organisations have struck the right balance between focusing on financial, strategic and operational risks.
